2.0 Customization

SchoolCafé TV offers a variety of different ways for you to tailor your menu signage to display exactly how you’d like them to in a fun and appealing way. Changes are made in real time so you can instantly see how your changes affect the display. This section is a brief overview of the different ways you can customize your SchoolCafé TV display.

2.1 Templates

The template determines the landscape of the menu display. You can choose from the Aura, Cosmos, Singularity, and Ethereal templates. Each of these templates provides a unique experience for viewing the menus. Within these templates there are even finer adjustments than can be made to provide a custom-tailored experience for your students.

To change your template:

  1. Login to your SchoolCafé TV dashboard.
  2. Select the TV you want to adjust on your SchoolCafé TV app or on your computer by clicking on the View button.
  3. Then go to the Schedule Tab to make the changes.
  4. Select a template from the list.
  5. Scroll down and make any fine adjustments that you’d like.

Aura – List style; provides only the name of an item and the calorie count. Good for displaying whole menus so that students know all of their options.

Cosmos – List with thumbnails; provides an image next to the listed item a long with poll ratings. Good for displaying most of a menu or all of 1 type of menu item while still providing a visual element to your display.

Singularity – Flip cards; similar to Cosmos but with larger pictures and more emphasis on a handful of items (4-5), also includes SchoolCafé poll ratings and calorie count. Good for highlighting a set of items or providing a list of top selling/favorite items.

Ethereal – Combination of Singularity and Cosmos; thumbnails on one half of the screen, accompanied by customizable views or picture slideshows to showcase a partiular item in more detail. Good for highlighting particular items.

 2.1 Design – Fonts/Background

The Design tab allows you to change the visual features of your TV. Fonts and backgrounds are fully customizable. You can change the style, color, and size. As seen in the above pictures, words can be cut off or left out because there may not be enough room on the screen. This is where customizing fonts comes in handy.

To customize fonts:

  1. Open your SchoolCafé TV app or website and login.
  2. Select the TV you’d like to modify.
  3. Click the DESIGN tab, the tab that’s second from the left.
  4. Select the template that you’d like.
  5. Choose your font style for each section including the title and menu item name.
    • Fonts can be changed per slide or widget or the full template.

The background can be changed to match your school’s personality and/or mascot, or just the food items you serve. The option to change it can be found under the button you click to change fonts under the DESIGN tab.

2.2 Config – Scheduling/Displaying Items

The Schedule section gives you the ability to set schedules and change which categories of food are displayed. You can change the template used per meal type, the meal timing and lines shown per meal service.

 2.3 Settings

The last tab, SETTINGS, provides a few key features. The exporting feature allows you to transfer settings from one TV to another. You can also change the screensaver settings (screensavers are images that display on the TV during downtime), see the school associated with the TV, and the name of the device.

You can also send Commands such as restarting the device, republish menus, or change the status bar.
